Forest activists in East Gippsland, Victoria, call for support in their fight to end old growth logging. If you care about the survival of our forests, read on...

What it's about:
The last tracts of untouched ecosystems, which have had an uninterupted, natural evolution since Gondwanan times, are being felled in East Gippsland. Despite public uproar over the logging of ancient forests, the DNRE continues its woodchip-driven clearfelling. Every day another 1/2 hectare is gone, which is why we have to work full time right now to stop it. We are doing all we can to negotiate, stop clearfelling and raise awareness.
Shining Gums, 4m wide and 60m tall, over 250 years old stand over ancient Sassafras rainforest. Gliders shriek as they dive out of the canopy, wary being in Powerful Owl territory. Morning sunbeams feed the tree-ferns, a bird chorus begins, until the sound of chainsaws rips it all apart.

Why we need your support:
In order to be the most effective in our struggle against old growth logging, we need to remain autonomous and self-funded. We are not on the dole. This is why we are asking you to prove your support; will you help us to save the forests? We urgently need an income to cover food, phone calls & petrol. We wish for:
1. Video camera; to document logging breaches & deter violence
2. Climbing Gear; to get up and stay up the trees
3. 6.50 x 16 4WD tyres (4 of) to keep the car roadworthy and in the forest
