Event information
Across Australia, new anti-protest laws are being passed in order to silence dissent on rapid action for climate and the environment. In Victoria peaceful forest protectors are facing up to 12 months of jail time come May 2023.
Any stripping away of the democratic right to protest affects all communities, and will eventually be used to further limit workplace action and increase the criminalisation of First Nations people standing up for country.
Come, discuss, and VOTE on practical ways you can support climate action and the environment, and defend the right to protest.

Marjorie Thorpe is a proud Gunnaikurnai woman. She was co-commissioner in the Bringing Them Home stolen generations inquiry, campaigned to save the Grandmother trees on Tjapurong, was chairperson of the People’s Movement, sat on the Reconciliation Council, and is a Natural Resources Manager. |

Natalie Hogan is the current ecosystems lawyer with Environmental Justice Australia. She also represents forest activists in court and provides assistance in relation to infringement notices. Previously Natalie was a criminal lawyer and worked at state and federal government prosecution agencies in Queensland and Victoria. |
