Spring campaign kick off

After an incredibly successful community-led summer campaign to stop logging in Errinundra this year, we are so excited to kick-start our Spring campaign. Join us online for chats with long-time GECO volunteers and East Gippy locals about the #SaveErrinundra campaign which disrupted logging for 4 months!

Hear from local ecologist Rena Gaborov about what makes East Gippsland’s forests and wildlife so special, and why the Errinundra Plateau is such a crucial climate refuge for many threatened species. Isaac Carne will share what it was like to spend 11 days in a tree-sit to stop logging in Errinundra.

We’ll be premiering a film that shows the success of last summer’s #SaveErrinundra campaign that ended with a court injunction kicking the loggers out of unburnt forests in the Errinundra Plateau. The film gives voice to Goongerah locals that have lost many of the forests they’ve been fighting to protect for the last 25 years to the 2019-20 bushfires.

The forests of so-called East Gippsland are on the stolen lands of the Gunnai Kurnai, Bidewell, and Monero First Nations peoples; sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our deepest respects to their Elders past and present.
